Steam. Warmth. Fragrance. Comfort. Nostalgia. Memories of Mum’s chai, with ginger but no cardamom because she knows I don’t like it. Holding my mug close and being transported to another place, another time. Feeling warm, and safe, ensconced. Cherishing those memories of traditional chai and taking the journey further, adventuring, exploring different types of leaves and blends so imaginative and tasteful that the mouth waters upon hearing their names. Savouring every drop of the current brew and simultaneously looking forward to the next. Scaling the heights and plunging the depths of taste, texture, and aroma, and sharing the best of the best of these with family, friends, and Steepster. For all these reasons and more do I drink and enjoy tea.

I love tea because of all the myriad of flavors available. In what other category of foods can you get so many different flavors and tastes, and all without nearly any calories? Tea is amazing!

I like tea because it’s warm, and where I live is cold.

Tea is so variable and able to be molded to your moods. If you want a jolt of energy in the morning you have tons of choices (black or yerba mate? Well, what kind of black?). If you want to relax there are so many herbal blends it’s mind blowing – I love rooibos at night. If you want something to be richly complex, you can do many steepings of an oolong. Or, you can get a sweeter blend for something simple.
I change my mind all day about everything – I love that tea can accommodate that!

I like tea for the comfort that is offered as one takes a sip of the tea, then another sip while first sips makes it way downward and warming all. It is not all tea that does this but the finest of teas; conjuring image that it brings forth as sip after sip is swallowed; thus becoming the elixir that tea drinkers come to know as sustenance if only for a short time until the next fixing and having another cup of the brew.

In all, I drink tea because I got to have it!
